Whatever the season, Cyprus provides ample opportunity to experience something new, interesting and exciting, including activities, events, customs and places that are unique and special to the island.
Nicosia, the capital of the island of Cyprus, has incorporated elements of the many empires and kingdoms that have claimed it over centuries stretching back to the Bronze Age.
Lemesos, still known to many as Limassol (Limasol in Turkish), is one of Cyprus’ most underrated cities. Modelled on what seems to be an American seaside cityscape, the long stretch that is Lemesos has its busy main road running across the entire city, with cafes, shops, restaurants and general life going on to the north, while a long, mediocre but popular beach is lapped by the Mediterranean to the south.
Cyprus’ east coast has a reputation for being something of an insomniac. Over the years, the lively town of Ayia Napa has really earned its nightlife stripes, thanks to a neon strip full of bars and nightclubs. But all-night partying is just one chapter in the Larnaca region’s story. This part of Cyprus has plenty for couples and families, as well.
The Paphos region of Cyprus’ west coast runs from Polis, on the island’s north-western tip, down to the city of Limassol, in the south. Most people come here for the beaches, and once you see them you’ll understand why. Blue Flag sands are flanked by limestone cliffs and accessorised by tilting palm trees.
Located at the crossroads of three continents, Cyprus is easily accessible from Europe, Northern Africa and the Middle east. More than 40 airlines including Cyprus Airways, the island's national carrier, operate scheduled flights from and to Larnaca and Paphos international airports.
