Mysterieuse, chaleureuse, pure, genereuse.

Rainbow beaches The Heraklion area’s bragging rights begin with its beaches. The stretches of sand in this central part of Crete’s north coast are impossible to pigeon hole – they range from the lively 18 to 30s hangouts in Malia to the rugged bays of the deserted island, Dia. Heraklion is the administrative capital of Crete and the fourth largest city in Greece. Unlike Chania and Rethymno, it is a modern city, rebuilt after brutal bombing in World War Two. Over time, the city has been the slave-trade capital of the eastern Mediterranean, a Byzantine fortress town, a Venetian haven, and after a period of Turkish Rule, became the capital of Crete in 1971. It is not as charming as the other major centres in Greece, but there is a lot to offer in and around the town. There is a good chance that if you are visiting from abroad that Heraklio may be your first stop. The international airport, named after Nikos Kazantzakis , the author of Zorba the Greek. Many famous and infamous people have called the city home over time, including the painter, El Greco.
Chania Creta Island Chania is the capital of Crete’s most western province, the second largest town on the island and argueably the most beautiful city on Crete. Divided into a number of areas, the old part of town is a mix of colourful old Venetian mansions and winding laneways. Labyrinth like and evocative, colourful and crumbling, it is a city for adventurers and romantics.
Port venitien, vieille ville, plages exotiques, hotels luxueux et gastronomie cretoise.
